The last video game of the GTA series (Grand Theft Auto IV) was released three years ago, on the 29th April 2008. Some people say that it’s an unusually long time for Rockstar, but the famous analyst Michael Pachter strongly believes that the new GTA 5 will be released this year. Grand Theft Auto IV has been released for years after the previous GTA San Andreas release.
During the presentation of Take Two’s fiscal results, they didn’t say any information about the next GTA 5. According to Michael Pachter, it could be released at the end of the year in December or in January. Why? Because many Rockstar’s employees contracts are ending on January 2012.
Perhaps Rockstar is working on a fully-fledged sequel for Grand Theft Auto V, which is opposed to the San Andreas & Vice City style sequel. The analyst also stated that GTA 5 is on the “back burner”, if it’s released before those contracts expire in January 2012, we should hear more about it pretty soon, maybe at the next E3 in June!
There is a rumor spreading around the web, it looks like we may expect to hear a lot of Westside Connection on the soundtrack to the next Grand Theft Auto V. VG247 reports absurdly that according to a mysterious anonymous source, Rockstar has chosen Hollywood as the setting or the inspiration for the probably fictional setting of GTA 5.
And if a strange dialogue with an anonymous source seems a bit of a stretch to believe on its own, note that Eurogamer also later reported this morning that their own independent source told them Rockstar is definitely researching Hollywood, although this source could not confirm if the research was for a new GTA. Rockstar only said that they would not comment on any rumour or speculation.
There is still no telling when Rockstar will actually announced GTA V so we can all find out its setting for sure, though. Rumor initially had it they may have had the bombshell announcement planned for E3 back in June, but obviously that never came to pass. So until Rockstar does decide to share the news, take these rumors with a grain of salt.
I like this article about the next GTA 5, it seems that it would be in Vice City again. There are a lot of rumors about it, through this article from GTA 5 Trailer, i find this rumor is more and more reliable.
GameReactor has just discovered what could well be the complete Games Line Up that will be announced during the E3 2011 next June at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which includes the long awaited Grand Theft Auto 5 which will be named Vice City 2… Let me be clear, even though a return to Vice City has been talked about for some months, these documents can not be authenticated for now, it is still just a rumor.
Rockstar has been busy with many projects in 2010. They made a large contribution to Red Dead Redemption, and they are working on a new PS3 title called Agent too. Since Agent has been announced and GTA 5 has not, one would assume that Agent is Rockstar’s priority for now. We should therefore get a better idea of when to expect GTA 5 once the release date for Agent is announced. Grand Theft Auto V should be released no before 2011 and no later than 2012.
